Dr. Mid-Nider visits a doctor friend of his about a possible cure for blindness, but that doctor is suddenly called away to tend to some injured miners rescued from a cave-in. Dr. Mid-Nite decides to help out, and he discovers that the cave-in was caused by the mine manager, who was attempting to hide the existence of an undiscovered valuable vein of coal.
