In "The Invasion of the Fire People! [Part I]," the Justice Society of America faces a mysterious threat as yellow comets herald the arrival of the Fire People, a long-lost menace tied to a forgotten raid on Earth’s radium. Ten days earlier, a meteor’s radiation revealed a buried film that exposed their past invasion—and their future return—leading Dr. Grover Conrad and his assistant to warn the world through a desperate message carved into the mountainside.
In "The Invasion of the Fire People! Part II," Atom and Black Canary race to stop a mysterious group of flame-wielding aliens stealing radium from a physics lab, only to be driven back by their scorching heat rays. Flash and Dr. Mid-Nite follow a trail of meteor footprints to Five Lakes Hospital, where they confront the Fire-People in the surgery room—only to be overwhelmed by a sudden burst of flammable ether. Meanwhile, Hawkman and Wonder Woman intercept the invaders at a mining site, battling their way through steam-powered defenses, but the Fire-People’s relentless heat proves too much.
In "The Invasion of the Fire People, Part III," Green Lantern races to stop the Fire People’s escape as their radium gun proves too powerful for even the Army’s planes. With Dr. Conrad carving a desperate warning into the mountain, the Justice Society of America arrives just in time—armed with a surprising new weapon. The JSA’s arrival turns the tide, but the battle’s final outcome remains uncertain.
In this 1949 educational gem from All-Star Comics #49, Hawkman puts his legendary smarts to work, breaking down the science of flight, sound, and propulsion using simple, everyday items. From explaining lift with a paper airplane to showing how a mailing-tube trombone produces sound and a balloon-powered dropper demonstrates jet thrust, the lesson is as clever as it is hands-on.
