In "The Man Who Hated Science! [Part I]," Professor Zodiac stands accused of murder, but his testimony spins a tale of ancient alchemy: the 15th-century scholar Galio, who discovered the Four Wonders of Alchemy, used the Elixir of Youth—only to watch it fade by the 20th century. Fearing the power of his secrets, Galio hid the wonders and sought out the Justice Society of America to ensure their safekeeping, dying moments after revealing their location. But Zodiac, eavesdropping from another room, stole the knowledge and fled, leaving behind only his gold cane. Now, with the JSA racing to secure the relics before he does, the race begins.
In "The Man Who Hated Science, Part II," Professor Zodiac, disguised as The Alchemist, races to the Gotham Terminal after uncovering a cryptic clue in the Gotham Globe, only to collide with The Flash and Hawkman—both also chasing the same mystery. As news of a millionaire’s disintegration from the Universal Solvent spreads, Atom and Dr. Mid-Nite arrive on the scene, setting off a tense confrontation with the Alchemist, who seems poised to claim the ultimate scientific prize.
In "The Man Who Hated Science, Part III," the Alchemist’s quest for the Top of Perpetual Motion leads to a high-stakes showdown at a spinning contest, where he faces off against Wonder Woman and Black Canary. In "The Man Who Hated Science! Part IV," the Justice Society of America finds themselves trapped and tied to the Perpetual Motion Machine, their fate in the hands of The Alchemist, who sheds his disguise to face justice in Gotham. As he prepares to surrender for the murder of Michaels, the JSA members drink the youth elixir, breaking free just in time to confront Zodiac, who launches a final attack with an alchemo bomb before fleeing by plane.
