Tom Vincent was born on January 27, 1956, and built a career as a comic book artist and colorist whose most sustained contribution was coloring Marvel's *Silver Surfer* (vol. 3) across a six-year run from 1989 to 1995. That lengthy tenure on a single prestige title gave his work a visibility that extended well beyond the book itself, and he brought a similarly painterly sensibility to *The Thanos Quest*, a project that has only grown in stature over the decades.

His Marvel output ranged broadly — *X-Factor*, *Thor*, *Speedball*, *X-Men Adventures*, *Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.*, and *Hellraiser* among them — and he also contributed covers, posters, trading cards, and advertising work. Outside Marvel, he colored and illustrated titles such as *Robotech*, *Fish Police*, and *Grendel* for Comico, and worked with First Comics, Dark Horse, and Windsor-Smith Studios, as well as producing work on *Fish Police* for Time Warner Books.

Vincent formally retired from comics in 1997, transitioning into web and graphic design for a national entertainment retailer before moving into an art director role at an Albany, New York advertising agency. He has maintained an occasional creative relationship with longtime collaborator Kevin Conrad. In later years he has also owned and operated The Vineyard Wines & Spirits in Schenectady, New York.
