It's a genuinely compelling moral dilemma set up right on the cover, pairing the Surfer's gleaming cosmic form against this snarling, shadowy beast in a clash that crackles with tension. Steve Englehart and Ron Lim's 1989 run was firing on all cylinders, and "Alien!" looks to be a prime example of the series at its thought-provoking best.
