“Open Those Pearly Gates”

In "Open Those Pearly Gates," the Justice Machine faces a sudden threat when a mysterious assailant strikes New Atlantis during a critical moment—just as Jaiime enters surgery. With Jaiime recovering and the team thrown into disarray, Tessei steps in to lead, hunting the shadowy intruder while personal moments unfold: Robert gifts Mitrian a kitten, and the two share their first meaningful touch. Written by Doug Murray and illustrated by Mike Gustovich, with colors by Tom Vincent and letters by Bob Pinaha, this 1988 issue blends tense action with quiet emotional beats, all wrapped in Gustovich’s striking cover art.
