Magneto has captured Senator Kelly but has him taken away by Sentinels sent by Trask. Mastermold shakes off Trask's control and plans on replacing the brains of world leaders (starting with Kelly) with computerized brains which obey his commands. The X-Men arrive, rescue Kelly, battle the Sentinels and destroy Mastermold. This gives Senator Kelly a big change of heart and he becomes pro-mutant in his presidential campaign. Beast is released from prison. Jean and Scott get engaged.
