Young thief Ororo meets professional grifter Herman Hassel on the streets of Cairo and returns with him to New York to become his protégé. The first time she is incarcerated, her claustrophobia kicks in and activates her mutant powers. When she steals a powerful item from the X-Men, they show up to take it back and terrorize Hassel. Angry at the disrespect shown to her mentor, Storm invades X-Mansion to teach the team a lesson. Xavier invites her to stay but she refuses.
