The New Warriors Annual #1

History

Writer Fabian Nicieza scripted the lead story under editor Danny Fingeroth and editor-in-chief Tom DeFalco, with Mark Bagley penciling and Jeff Albrecht on inks — the same creative core running the main New Warriors monthly at the time. The cover was a collaborative effort between Bagley (pencils) and Mike Mignola (inks), giving it visual continuity with the other three annuals in the 'Kings of Pain' banner, all of which featured Mignola's distinctive inking. The backup origins section was scripted by Eric Fein and Gary Barnum with breakdowns by Tom Morgan and finishes by Marie Severin, while Dan Slott's Speedball comedic strip was penciled by John Calimee and inked by Don Hudson — all working within Marvel's standard annual production structure of the era.
