Silver Surfer #48

This April 1991 issue titled "Past Sins" delivers one of the more viscerally striking covers of the run, with Ron Lim and Tom Christopher depicting the Silver Surfer engulfed — practically consumed — by a massive, dripping magenta entity whose grotesque form dominates the entire image. The cosmic herald's gleaming silver body strains against the creature's suffocating grip, a stark contrast of light against oozing, skull-textured darkness that makes the danger feel genuinely overwhelming. Jim Starlin's storytelling instincts and Lim's dynamic art have been a reliable combination throughout this series, and issue #48 looks like no exception.
