Laura Allred is an American comics artist whose reputation rests primarily on her work as a colorist, a craft she has practiced alongside her husband, writer-artist Mike Allred, across a prolific and wide-ranging body of work. Born in 1950, she has been an active presence in the industry from the early 1980s through the present day, accumulating credits as colorist, letterer, and occasional writer across more than 340 issues.
Dead Air #[nn] (1989)
Her name is most closely associated with titles that showcase a distinctive pop-art sensibility — among them *X-Statix*, *X-Force*, *Madman Atomic Comics*, *I, Zombie* (later adapted for television as *iZombie*), *FF*, and *Silver Surfer*. Her palette choices and coloring approach have long been considered inseparable from Mike Allred's linework, the two functioning as a genuine creative unit rather than simply a writer-artist and a colorist working in parallel. The vibrancy and clarity she brings to his pages have given their shared projects a visual identity that stands apart from mainstream superhero conventions.
Madman Adventures #1 (1992)
