Madman Atomic Comics #11

Frank Einstein — Madman himself — dominates this striking 2008 Image cover in his signature white-and-red lightning bolt costume, locked in a tug-of-war with a grotesque, elastic-faced creature whose stretched, snarling head fills the bottom of the image. The setting looks like a haunted interior, complete with wooden floors and shadowy phantom figures drifting in the background, perfectly teasing the "Phantoms of Paradise!" story within. Michael and Laura Allred's linework and colors give the whole thing a wonderfully unsettling energy that blends superhero action with something genuinely weird and eerie.
