Art Ops #6 kicks off "Modern Love" with a cover by Michael Allred that's equal parts unsettling and hypnotic — a masked figure with a melting, liquid-black form reaches out with multiple pale hands, while red-nailed fingers emerge from the dark mass against a swirling psychedelic background. Shaun Simon and Eduardo Risso continue their Vertigo series here, and the imagery makes a strong case that this arc is pushing the book's surreal, art-world weirdness into stranger territory than ever. A genuinely arresting opener for the two-part story.
