“An I, Zombie! Story”
About this Collection

This volume collects issues #1–4 of the 2011 DC series iZombie, written by Chris Roberson and illustrated by Michael Allred. The story follows Gwen Dylan, a zombie who works as a gravedigger and must consume a brain each month to maintain her humanity, a process that also grants her the deceased's memories. In this arc, Gwen investigates a murder while navigating her undead existence and encounters other supernatural beings in her town.

In iZombie #1 (2011), written by Chris Roberson and illustrated by Michael Allred with colors by Laura Allred, Gwen Dylan navigates a dangerous routine: she must consume a brain every month to stay human, but each meal floods her mind with the memories of the dead. The story, titled "An I, Zombie! Story," introduces a haunting blend of mystery and personal cost, all rendered in Michael Allred’s distinctive, vibrant style—both inside and on the cover by the same creative team.

Gwen Dylan needs to eat a brain once a month, or she'll become a mindless zombie. The problem for her is she absorbs the dead person's memories, which is almost as bad as eating the brain.
