About the series
In the late 1990s, DC Comics gave speedster Bart Allen his own series, Impulse, a high-octane, 90-issue run that let the young hero race into his own identity. Written most often by Todd DeZago, Mark Waid, and William Messner-Loebs, with energetic art from Humberto Ramos, Craig Rousseau, and Carlo Barberi, the title balanced teenage chaos with the legacy of the Flash family, anchored by mentors Max Mercury and Jay Garrick. It captured the exuberance of a kid learning to slow down long enough to become a hero, offering a distinctive, youthful counterpoint to the broader DC universe of the era.
