“Smart Men, Foolish Choices”

Part of DC's 1995 Underworld Unleashed crossover event, this issue of Impulse promises a genuinely unsettling clash as the cover — by Humberto Ramos and Wayne Faucher — looms with the monstrous, long-haired Blockbuster towering over a determined but clearly outmatched Impulse. The tagline "Blockbuster Breaks Loose!" says it all: the speedster teen is facing something far outside his usual scrapes, and the size disparity alone makes the tension feel very real. Mark Waid, Ramos, and Faucher bring their signature energy to what looks like one of the more daunting challenges Impulse has faced yet.
