“A Question of Faith [Mercury Falling Part One]”

The cover of Impulse #62 sets a tense, brooding tone for "Mercury Falling," the opening chapter of what promises to be a serious arc for Bart Allen. Ethan Van Sciver and Wayne Faucher's cover art puts Max Mercury front and center, his expression tight with concern as he cradles a limp, goggle-wearing Impulse in his arms — an enormous, shadowy figure looming ominously behind them both. The tagline "Max's Toughest Challenge Lies Within" hints that this July 2000 issue trades some of the series' usual lighthearted energy for something with real emotional weight, and the creative team of Todd DeZago and Ethan Van Sciver looks well-positioned to deliver it.
