The world has gone sideways — literally — on this disorienting December 1998 cover, where Impulse tumbles upside-down across a dizzying checkerboard void alongside several other figures, including a caped hero in white and a panicked civilian shouting "Have you got that thing fixed yet?!" Cover pencils by Craig Rousseau and inks by Wayne Faucher give the whole scene a wonderfully kinetic, gravity-defying energy that perfectly suits DC's speedster teen. With the story title "Gamal's Story" emblazoned boldly across the cover, writer William Messner-Loebs and artist Craig Rousseau promise something a little different from the usual superhero fare.
