What a wonderfully absurd image Ethan Van Sciver and Wayne Faucher have conjured for this November 1999 issue — Impulse sits center-stage at what appears to be a movie theater, cheerfully munching popcorn and sipping a drink while an absolutely chaotic crowd of snarling demons, ghoulish creatures, and monstrous figures press in all around him. The "Day of Judgment" banner blazing down the left side (a nod to DC's 1999 crossover event) makes the juxtaposition of Bart's blissful snacking against the hellish mob surrounding him all the more delightful. Todd DeZago, Ethan Van Sciver, and Prentis Rollins deliver a cover that captures exactly what makes Impulse so endearing — utter obliviousness in the face of apocalyptic chaos.
