Marc Andreyko
1970–
Marc Andreyko is an American comic book writer and screenwriter born in 1970, perhaps best recognized for two lasting contributions to the medium: the noir-inflected true crime series *Torso*, developed alongside Brian Michael Bendis, and the creation of Kate Spencer, the defense attorney turned vigilante who anchors DC's *Manhunter*.
Andreyko's professional comics career stretches from 1996 through at least 2024, spanning more than 228 credited issues. His work gravitates toward morally complex characters, and *Manhunter* in particular showcased his talent for grounded, character-driven storytelling within superhero settings. Beyond that series, he has written across a wide range of DC titles, including *Batwoman*, *Supergirl*, *Death of Hawkman*, and the fan-pleasing crossover *Batman '66 Meets Wonder Woman '77*, which demonstrated his comfort with lighter, nostalgia-tinged material as well. He also brought his voice to *Legenderry: Red Sonja* for Dynamite Entertainment, broadening his work beyond DC's publishing stable.
Throughout his career Andreyko has shown consistent range — capable of hard-edged crime narratives and Silver Age homage alike. The enduring popularity of Kate Spencer among DC readers stands as a particular measure of his creative impact, with the character continuing to resonate well beyond her debut title.
