Manhunter #16

The unsettling cover of Manhunter #16 (January 2006) puts Mr. Bones front and center — his skeletal face rendered in chilling detail, suit and tie immaculate, while a swirling blue flame rises from his skull bearing the ghostly image of a floating figure within it. The cover tagline, "Something on your mind, Mr. Bones...?", adds a darkly wry edge that signals writer Marc Andreyko is taking this series into genuinely intriguing territory. With pencils and inks by David López, it's a striking, atmospheric image that makes this opening chapter of "Who's Your Daddy? Part 1: Family Plots" hard to pass up.
