Manhunter #11

The "Power Struggle!" cover of Manhunter #11 says it all — Kate Spencer, in her red armored suit and mask, locks her glowing energy staff against a hooded, masked opponent dressed in a matching red-and-black costume, lightning crackling through the charged air between them. Jesús Saiz renders the standoff with real kinetic tension, the two figures mirror images of each other as they wrestle for control of the weapon. With Marc Andreyko writing and Javier Pina on interior art, this August 2005 chapter of "Manhunted" looks like exactly the kind of close-quarters clash that keeps readers coming back.
