Part of DC's New 52 initiative, Batwoman #28 from April 2014 drops Kate Kane into a striking crimson nightmare dominated by an enormous bat-symbol looming over her like a shadow. On Trevor McCarthy's cover, a small but defiant Batwoman crouches in battle stance against what appears to be a massive, many-limbed creature, the stark red-and-black palette making the confrontation feel genuinely ominous. With Marc Andreyko writing and Jeremy Haun on art, "Webs: Tangled" promises exactly the kind of atmospheric tension this series does so well.
