Subtitled "New Day Dawning," this October 2006 issue of Kate Spencer's long-running DC series presents its armored heroine front and center against a vivid sunset backdrop — her red-and-black Manhunter suit gleaming as she glances back with quiet intensity before what appears to be Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Surrounding her in the background is a cast of supporting figures: a hooded villain, a young blonde woman, a man with crossed arms, a skull-faced presence, a child, and others, hinting at the web of relationships and tensions that define Kate's world. Cover artist Jesús Saiz gives the whole composition a cinematic, reflective mood that suits a milestone twenty-fifth issue perfectly.
