Paul Gulacy, born August 15, 1953, is an American comics artist whose career spans more than four decades of work primarily for Marvel Comics and DC Comics. He is perhaps most closely identified with Marvel's 1970s martial-arts and espionage title *Master of Kung Fu*, where his cinematic, photo-influenced draftsmanship helped define the book's distinctive mood and earned him a devoted following. Gulacy's compositions drew heavily on film language — tight close-ups, dramatic shadow play, and a strong sense of sequential pacing — giving his pages an unusually controlled tension.

Beyond *Master of Kung Fu*, Gulacy made an early mark on comics history by illustrating *Sabre: Slow Fade of an Endangered Species* (1978) for Eclipse Enterprises, written by Don McGregor. Widely recognized as one of the first graphic novels published in the American market, it demonstrated the format's commercial and artistic possibilities at a formative moment for the medium.

His catalog across more than 260 credited issues is broad, taking in titles such as *Catwoman*, *Batman*, *Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight*, *Star Wars*, and *G.I. Joe: Special Missions*. Whether handling espionage thrillers, superhero stories, or science-fiction adventure, Gulacy consistently brought a filmmaker's eye to his page design, making him a distinctive and enduring presence in mainstream American comics.
