Catwoman #32

Aug 2004 · DC · 2.50 USD; 3.85 CAD
“Only Takes a Night”

In "Only Takes a Night," Catwoman breaks from the costume long enough to ask Batman on a real date, stepping away from the shadows for a night of dinner and a show. As Bruce and Selina share a rare moment of normalcy, tensions simmer beneath the surface—Slam confronts his son about his role in Catwoman’s operations, while Holly’s unexpected visit to Selina’s apartment hints at a secret identity in motion. Written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Sean Phillips, with inks by Stefano Gaudiano and colors by Laurie Kronenberg, this issue captures a quiet, charged moment in the lives of two iconic figures. The cover, by Paul Gulacy and Jimmy Palmiotti, perfectly frames the duality of the story’s mood.

Catwoman asks Batman to go on a date as she's tired of playing superhero. Later that evening Bruce and Selina eat a dinner and catch a show. Slam meets with his son and finally tells him he is working with Catwoman. Holly comes to Selina's apartment where she seems to return a Catwoman suit from her bag to Selina's closet. It is implied Holly has been acting as Catwoman during Selina's absence.
