“Prelude: Golden Daggers (A Death Run)”

In Master of Kung Fu #44, a deadly game of betrayal unfolds as the true identity of Fu Manchu’s mole is revealed—Ducharme—but the hunt for the traitor within Smith’s own ranks continues. When Clive, Chi, and later Leiko are ambushed by masked assassins known as the Golden Dagger, the attack takes a shocking turn in the hospital, where a wounded Shock-wave names Petrie as the traitor before turning his gun on Smith. Written by Doug Moench and illustrated with striking precision by Paul Gulacy, with inks by Jack Abel and colors by Don Warfield, this issue pulses with tension. The cover by John Buscema and Al Milgrom captures the moment’s dread in stark, dramatic detail.
