Catwoman #30

Jun 2004 · DC · 2.50 USD; 3.85 CAD
“End of the Line”

In "End of the Line," Catwoman faces her most brutal challenge yet as she's overwhelmed by the relentless Zeiss, who reveals his past in chilling detail. As the fight reaches its breaking point, a sudden twist from the Beti-Ma warriors shifts the tide—just as Selina collapses from exhaustion. When Holly and Slam arrive at the East End rooftop, they find only Batman, a pool of blood, and a shattered pigeon coop, with no sign of Catwoman. Written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated with sharp intensity by Paul Gulacy, with inks by Jimmy Palmiotti, colors by Laurie Kronenberg, and letters by Clem Robins, this issue’s cover by Gulacy and Palmiotti captures the moment’s grim weight.

Catwoman is greatly outclassed by Zeiss. While mercilessly beating Catwoman, Zeiss explains his backstory. Zeiss stabs Catwoman, who collapses and is on the brink of death. Suddenly, Zeiss is stabbed from behind by the Beti-Ma warriors and Selina passes out from the fatigue of battle. Holly and Slam track the fight to an East End rooftop. They find Batman investigating the scene. Selina is gone and all that is left is a pool of her blood on the ground and a broken pigeon coop.
