In the silent void of space, Cable and Hope hurtle toward Earth in stasis pods, their bodies still, their minds locked in dreams—until Cable’s consciousness fights through the haze to battle Bishop’s monstrous Acanti ship, which swallows them whole. When the wreckage finally crashes into the scorched remains of New York, the long sleep ends, and the real struggle begins.

In "Chapter Two: Rat on a Stick," Cable and Hope share a quiet moment over a meal of roasted rat as she confesses she feels ready to return to the present and join the X-Men. Their search of the crashed Acanti ship turns tense when they discover Bishop is missing—only for him to ambush Cable, slashing his throat and preparing to carry out his deadly mission against Hope.

In "Chapter Three: One Last Chance to Get It Right," Hope faces off against Bishop in a desperate clash that forces her mutant abilities to surface, leaving him unconscious. With Bishop's time machine components in hand, Cable, still healing, reactivates their own device—sending them back to 1614, unaware that Bishop is somehow pulled along on the journey.
