Master of Kung Fu #31

This August 1975 Marvel issue puts Shang-Chi in an immediate, visceral bind — the cover by Gil Kane and Dan Adkins shows the bare-chested martial artist scrambling off a massive, crushing war machine while a blonde adversary wielding a whip taunts him from nearby. The tension is perfectly captured in Shang-Chi's own desperate caption: "If I cannot regain my balance, this war machine will destroy me!" — a refreshingly honest admission of vulnerability that makes the story, titled "Snowbuster," all the more compelling to crack open.
