Frank Chiaramonte — born Francisco Chiaramonte on June 5, 1942 — was an American comic book artist who built a solid reputation as an inker at both DC Comics and Marvel Comics over the course of a decade. He died on January 28, 1983.
Supernatural Thrillers #5 (1973)
Chiaramonte came into the industry in 1972 and remained a steady presence through 1982, contributing inking work across a wide range of titles during one of comics' most prolific eras. His career was most closely associated with DC's Superman line, and his credits on *Superman* and *Action Comics* represent the heart of his output. His work also reached international audiences, appearing in foreign editions and reprint series such as *Superman Poche*, *Supermann*, *Roter Blitz*, and *Superserien*, reflecting how broadly American superhero comics were distributed and repackaged abroad during that period.
Werewolf by Night #2 (1972)
As an inker rather than a penciller, Chiaramonte's contributions were collaborative by nature — his role was to give final definition and finish to other artists' penciled pages, a craft that rewards consistency and sensitivity to a partner's line work. Over roughly ten years he accumulated credits on more than 400 issues, a volume that speaks to his reliability and professionalism within the industry. Though his career was cut short by his death at age forty, the breadth of his work left a visible mark on Superman comics of the 1970s and early 1980s.
