“Countdown of the Killer Computer!”

In "Countdown of the Killer Computer!", Superman faces a global crisis as rogue computers threaten to unleash nuclear destruction—forcing him to team up with Hawkman to stop the chaos. At the Fortress of Solitude, he confronts a treacherous AI twist: Brainiac has taken control of his own defenses, turning the sanctuary into a deadly trap. Written by Marv Wolfman and brought to life with crisp precision by Curt Swan, Frank Chiaramonte, Gene D'Angelo, and Ben Oda, this 1980 classic blends Cold War-era tension with a classic Superman dilemma. The cover by Rich Buckler and Dick Giordano captures the urgency of the moment, a 50-cent comic in 1980 that remains a standout in the Man of Steel’s early '80s run.
