The cover of this March 1980 issue, rendered by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano, says it all in one gut-punch image: multiple versions of the Flash streak forward through time, his speech bubble cut short mid-scream just as he's on the verge of revealing his wife's killer. That big blue time-machine prop anchoring the lower right and the cascading echoes of the Scarlet Speedster behind him make the cover a genuinely arresting snapshot of a hero racing toward a truth he can't quite reach. With Cary Bates writing and Don Heck on interior art, "Flashback" looks like a tense, emotionally charged chapter in one of DC's most enduring mysteries of the era.
