Brian Stelfreeze

Brian Stelfreeze is an American comic book artist born in 2000. He is best known as a painter, penciller, inker, and colorist who has worked for nearly every major American publisher. Stelfreeze was one of the original members of Atlanta’s Gaijin Studios, a collective that fostered a distinctive collaborative approach. His most credited titles include *Pantera Negra*, *Black Panther*, *Batman: Shadow of the Bat*, *Matador*, *Rise of the Black Panther*, and *The Hard Place*. He has been active in the industry from 1988 through 2024, with credits as artist, colorist, inker, and writer on 118 issues. Stelfreeze’s work is marked by a clean, dynamic line and a strong sense of composition, often enhanced by his own coloring. He has collaborated with writers such as Tom King on *The Hard Place* and Ta-Nehisi Coates on *Black Panther*. Among his notable co-creations is the series *Matador*, which he wrote and drew. Later in his career, Stelfreeze continued to work on high-profile projects while mentoring younger artists. He has received multiple industry awards, including an Eisner Award for Best Penciller/Inker.
