As they fret over Clark’s disappearance during the Last Son storyline, Jonathan recalls a quiet moment from the past when he and a young Clark sneaked off to the Fortress of Solitude—only for Superman to take them on a sudden journey to stop a Sun-Eater threatening a distant star system. With the help of a disabled alien fighter and a desperate act of courage, Superman faced the Sun-Eater head-on, enduring red sun radiation to deliver a bomb into its core. Though overwhelmed by the blast, he was saved by Jonathan, who caught up in the ship and brought him home. Back on Earth, they returned with a story about fishing, and now, as the night lingers, Jonathan reassures Martha that their son is stronger than anyone could imagine.
