Nightwing #1
Dick Grayson steps into the spotlight with this 1995 launch of Nightwing's first solo miniseries, written by Dennis O'Neil with art by Greg Land and inks by Mike Sellers. Brian Stelfreeze's cover sets the tone beautifully — Nightwing crouches in his blue-and-gold costume atop a rooftop gargoyle, a mysterious dark-haired figure silhouetted behind him against a full moon, while Batman's stern face looms large in the background and an older bespectacled man looks on from below. It's a striking composition that captures the sense of a hero carving out his own identity from a very long shadow.
