After exploding, Jason Rusch reconstitutes himself after Lorraine Reilly gets close to the detonation point. They then merge and head to Washington D.C. and then New York to take care of Lorraine's senate meeting, search Professor Stein's apartment, and take care of Jason's family matters. Killer Frost attacks which Lorraine handles as Firehawk so Jason can talk with his dad. Firehawk is losing, so Jason merges with her to continue the attack as Firestorm, who is then attacked by Mr. Freeze who has been hiding in the shadows.
