Batman: Shadow of the Bat #5

The October 1992 installment of Batman: Shadow of the Bat brings Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle's "The Black Spider" arc to a head, with Brian Stelfreeze's striking cover setting a tense, moody tone. In the foreground, a grimacing man dominates the right side while Batman crouches tensely below, and in the background the costumed Black Spider leaps dramatically against a full moon over a Gotham skyline. It's a beautifully composed piece that captures the gritty, street-level atmosphere this series does so well.
