Josef Rubinstein

Born on June 4, 1958, Josef "Joe" Rubinstein built a career in comics primarily as an inker, becoming one of the more versatile finishing artists to work across both Marvel and DC. He is perhaps best recognized for his contributions to Marvel's *The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe* and for inking the celebrated 1982 *Wolverine* miniseries written by Chris Claremont and penciled by Frank Miller — a compact, four-issue story that proved genuinely influential in shaping the character's mythology.

Rubinstein entered the industry in the mid-1970s, with catalog credits stretching from 1976 through the present day across more than 270 issues. His work spans an impressive range of titles at both major publishers, including *The Uncanny X-Men*, *The Amazing Spider-Man*, *Captain America*, *Superman*, and *Green Arrow / Black Canary*, among others — a breadth that speaks to his reliability and adaptability as a collaborator.
