Mild mannered Eddie Dial is bullied by a gang of toughs and after a hard night of drinking, has a Superman emblem tattooed on his chest as an act of cruelty. Cast out by society, Eddie turns to crime in desperation and after a stint in prison, becomes a member of the mob. Fighting his lifestyle and the corruption of his soul it involves, Eddie tries to come to terms with what it means to have Superman's symbol emblazoned on his chest.
