About this Collection

This collection brings together the 2010 'Captain America: War & Remembrance' storyline, a time-hopping adventure that sees Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes confronting echoes of World War II villains and allies. The volume features classic foes like Baron Zemo, the Red Skull, and Batroc the Leaper, alongside a host of Invaders-era characters such as Union Jack, Spitfire, and the original Human Torch, weaving together past and present conflicts in the Marvel Universe.

In "By the Dawn's Early Light!", Captain America digs into his past at S.H.I.E.L.D., unearthing long-buried secrets when he discovers his old WWII footlocker—and the triangular shield that changed everything. As Baron Strucker eludes capture and confronts Cap, a shocking twist reveals the enemy’s true nature, challenging everything the hero thought he knew. Written by John Byrne and Roger Stern, with art by Byrne and inks by Josef Rubinstein, this pivotal issue features a cover by Frank Miller and Joe Rubinstein.
