It follows Arcturus Rann, Acroyear, Marionette, Bug, and Biotron as they flee the tyrannical Baron Karza and his forces from the Microverse into Earth's dimension, where they encounter Ant-Man Scott Lang, the Man-Thing, and others. The volume collects the first 12 issues of the original series plus the Micronauts Annual #1 and related material, establishing the cosmic and sci-fi tone of the franchise.
"Homeworld!" kicks off the Epic Collection: The Original Marvel Years with a thrilling return to the Microverse, as Commander Rann awakens after a millennium to discover his people’s world has fallen under Baron Karza’s control thanks to the newly invented Warp Drive. Written by Bill Mantlo and brought to life by Michael Golden’s bold art and Joe Rubinstein’s dynamic inks, this landmark issue sets the stage for the birth of the Micronauts, with Rann’s capture and daring escape orchestrated by a band of rebels who would soon form the core of the team. The cover by Michael Golden and Joe Rubinstein captures the high-stakes tension of a world remade in shadow.
In "Homeworld!", Commander Rann awakens after a millennium in suspended animation to discover his world has changed beyond recognition—Baron Karza now rules the Microverse thanks to the Warp Drive, and Rann is captured and imprisoned in the Pleasure Pits. With help from a network of allies who would soon become the Micronauts, Rann begins his fight to reclaim his home.
In "A Hunting We Will Go!", Slug ventures into the eerie Body Banks on a mission to find Prince Argon, while the Micronauts track down Bug at the Coffin residence—unaware that Bug is already there, hidden in the shadows, as the Coffin family delivers the wreckage of a Wing Fighter to Phillip Prometheus at H.E.L.L.
In "The Prometheus Pit!", the Micronauts face off against the enigmatic Phillip Prometheus, a cyborg whose mysterious Prometheus Pit opens a dangerous gateway to the Microverse. Meanwhile, on Homeworld, Prince Argon’s desperate charge as a centaur ends in defeat, and Baron Karza selects Slug as the new vessel for Duchess Belladonna.
In the sweltering depths of the Everglades, Steve Coffin and the Micronauts find themselves hunted by the primal menace of the Man-Thing. As the jungle itself seems to turn against them, a far greater threat stirs—Baron Karza, drawn through the fathomless Prometheus Pit, now sets his sights on Earth.
