Chris Sprouse is an American comics artist born on July 30, 1966, best known for his long-running collaboration with writer Alan Moore on *Tom Strong*, the retro-flavored superhero series they co-created for America's Best Comics. That title earned Sprouse two Eisner Awards and remains the centerpiece of a career spanning more than three decades, during which he has contributed to a wide range of publishers and titles. His work in the catalog — as artist, colorist, inker, and occasional writer — stretches from 1990 through 2022 and encompasses over 180 issues.

Sprouse's clean, precise linework and strong sense of visual storytelling made him well suited to both superhero adventure and science fiction, qualities evident across credits that include *Legionnaires*, *Black Panther*, *Ocean*, and *Number of the Beast*, as well as the later *Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril*. His style tends toward clarity and craft over stylistic excess, giving even complex action sequences a composed, readable quality.

Over the course of his career Sprouse demonstrated a consistent versatility, moving between major publishers while maintaining a recognizable artistic identity. The Eisner recognition for *Tom Strong* confirmed his standing among the more accomplished superhero artists of his generation.
