Steven T. Seagle
Steven T. Seagle is an American writer whose work spans comic books, television, film, animation, live theater, and video games. His most celebrated comics contribution is the graphic novel memoir *It's a Bird...*, published by Vertigo in May 2004, a deeply personal work that uses Superman as a lens for exploring difficult truths. That project stands among the most distinctive superhero-adjacent narratives in the medium's modern era.
Seagle entered comics in the late 1980s, with credits running from 1987 through 2017 across more than 200 issues. His writing shaped a notably varied roster of titles, including *Sandman Mystery Theatre*, *House of Secrets*, *American Virgin*, *The Crusades*, and runs on *Superman*, demonstrating a consistent interest in psychologically grounded, often morally complex storytelling.
Outside comics, he co-founded Man of Action Studios alongside Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, and Joe Kelly. The collective is responsible for creating *Ben 10*, the animated series that became a cornerstone of Cartoon Network's programming. Seagle also co-founded Speak Theater Arts, dedicated to original live stage productions, and spent meaningful time in education, teaching at Ball State University, Pasadena City College, and Mt. San Antonio College, where he additionally coached the Forensics team through multiple national championship seasons. His career reflects an unusual breadth — moving fluidly between intimate literary comics and large-scale popular entertainment without losing a clear authorial perspective.
