Vertigo launches this mature-readers series from writer Steven T. Seagle and artist Becky Cloonan with a cover by Frank Quitely that immediately signals the series' central tension: a young man in a "Save Yourself" tank top — cross necklace and all — is sprawled across an enormous, fleshy tongue, arms braced wide as if caught between defiance and being consumed. The tagline "From the Bible Belt to the Chastity Belt" perfectly frames the cultural clash this 2006 series seems eager to explore.
