“Head Part 3 of 4”

American Virgin #3 arrives in July 2006 as part three of the four-chapter "Head" arc, with writing by Steven T. Seagle and interior art by Becky Cloonan and Jim Rugg. Frank Quitely's cover delivers a quietly unsettling image: a young, dark-haired figure — naked and vulnerable — clasped tightly within an enormous, oversized fist, his legs dangling free while his expression remains almost eerily calm. It's a striking visual metaphor for powerlessness and composure at once, and Entertainment Weekly's cover-quoted "A" grade suggests this Vertigo series was already making an impression in 2006.
