Hawkman #11
Part three of the five-part "Godspawn" arc lands with this July 1994 issue, and the cover delivers an arresting aerial confrontation — Hawkman dominates the upper half, wings fully spread and a weapon raised overhead, while a second winged figure in blue and orange is caught reeling below him against a fiery golden-orange background. A looming, shadowy bird-like presence on the left adds an ominous third dimension to the standoff, hinting at forces larger than either combatant. Steve Lieber's pencils and Rick Magyar's inks give the whole composition a raw, kinetic energy that makes it easy to see why this era of Hawkman kept readers coming back for more.
