Pretending to be possessed by a Daemonite, Warblade battles Ripclaw under the watchful eyes of the Faction. When the Daemonites decide to mutilate Ripclaw's "corpse," however, the jig is up and Warblade, Ripclaw and Pillar take the aliens down. Pillar explains to his old friends why he, a Daemonite, is actively trying to thwart the plans of the Faction in piecing together a weapon that would make them invincible. The trio split up to search for the last piece of the Trident but Warblade and Ripclaw are unaware that Pillar is still working with the Faction and has led them into a trap.
