Vertigo's American Virgin arrives at issue #21 with a cover by Celia Calle that pulls you right in — a young man clutching a cross-emblazoned pendant stares out with wide, unsettled eyes, while shadowy puppet-like figures and cartoonish stuffed animals loom eerily behind him, the words "He Shall Be Born Again" ghosted across his chest. It's a striking, slightly surreal image that captures the series' blend of faith, identity, and unease perfectly. Steven T. Seagle and Becky Cloonan continue "69" with part two of four, making this a solid chapter to have in hand as the story builds.
