Sandman Mystery Theatre #15

Sandman Mystery Theatre #15 brings the third chapter of "The Vamp" to DC Vertigo's stylish noir world, with cover art by Gavin Wilson that leans into moody, photographic-style imagery: a veiled woman holding a gun, a shadowy figure in a fedora caught in a tense moment on a fire escape, and a circular inset of an embracing couple rendered in deep purples and golds. The whole composition breathes that hard-boiled 1940s atmosphere the series does so well, suggesting danger, desire, and duplicity in equal measure. With Matt Wagner, Steven T. Seagle, and Guy Davis guiding the story, this penultimate installment of "The Vamp" arc is a compelling reason to keep the lights on.
